The Role of a NREMT Training Officer

Training Officers validate the continued competency of Nationally Registered EMS personnel by approving continuing education records entered by agency affiliates. In some agencies, Training Officers enter course records on behalf of affiliated personnel. The role of Training Officer is to be treated responsibly, with attentiveness given to all affiliates seeking NREMT recertification.

Before a Training Officer can request the Training Officer role, they must have an NREMT account. If you already have an NREMT account, do not create a new account. See the section on HOW TO ADD THE TRAINING OFFICER ROLE TO MY NREMT ACCOUNT.

HOW TO CREATE AN AGENCY FOR ONLINE NREMT RECERTIFICATION
Use these instructions to create an account for a new Agency. Use the instructions HOW TO AFFILIATE AS A TRAINING OFFICER AT AN EXISTING AGENCY when you are adding or changing Training Officer of an existing agency.
Login to your NREMT User Account
Ensure that you are in your Training Officer role and Select Agency from the left margin

To Dashboard
Now select "Create Agency"
Complete the Create A New Agency form and click Submit

Allow at least five business days for NREMT to process and approve
HOW TO AFFILIATE AS A TRAINING OFFICER AT AN EXISTING AGENCY
Use these instructions to add or change the Training Officer of an existing agency.
Login to your NREMT User Account
Ensure that you are in your Training Officer role and Select Agency from the left margin

Select Affiiliate with Agency from the left margin. Select Affiliate with another Agency, complete the Request Agency Affiliation form and click Submit Affiliation Request
Agency Approval

The agency's current Training Officer on file must approve your Training Officer affiliation/role request. If the Training Officer currently listed for the agency is no longer with the agency, the agency's Director/Chief /You (if that is you) must send an email from an agency email account (not a generic account ie Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) to support@nremt.org authorizing you to be added as the Training Officer. Please allow 7 business days for a change request to be approved.

The agency’s Training Officer will approve your request to affiliate as a Training Officer with the agency by logging on to their NREMT Training Officer account.

Ensure you are logged on to your NREMT Training Officer account
Ensure that you are in your Training Officer role and Select Agency from the left margin

On the next screen, you can approve affiliation requests or deny affiliation requests and then save your changes.

Ensure you are logged on to your NREMT Training Officer account and on the Training Officer Dashboard.
Scroll down the left side, select Agency, and then select Edit Agency

HOW TO APPROVE A RECERTIFICATION APPLICATION AS A TRAINING OFFICER
Ensure you are logged on to your NREMT Training Officer account and from the dashboard, select select Education and Skills Verification under Pending Actions & Request this is where you will approve the continuing education and skills of the BLS level or the continuing education of the ALS level.

Recert2.0 allows you to approve the continuing education and skills of an individual without the individual submitting a recertification application. The two processes are now independent.
Skill Verification

Here is where you will approve or deny recertification applications.

You can view the education entered by an individual on their recertification application by clicking on the arrow next to their name and on the next screen click on View Recert Progress. After you have verified the education entered is correct select approve and submit.

You can only deny a recertification application after it has been submitted. If an individual hasn’t submitted a recertification application you will see Provider’s Recert Application has not been submitted yet when you roll over their deny button.

WHO APPROVES THE CONTINUING EDUCATION OF TRAINING OFFICERS?
Training Officers may not approve their own continuing education. The continuing education of Training Officers must be approved by another Training Officer at their agency. If there is only one Training Officer, it is recommended that the agency's Medical Director add the Training Officer role to their NREMT account in order to approve the continuing education of the Training Officer. The steps to add an additional Training Officer to your agency are listed above under the "HOW TO AFFILIATE AS A TRAINING OFFICER AT AN EXISTING AGENCY" question above.
HOW DO I APPROVE AN ELECTRONIC INACTIVE TO ACTIVE REQUEST?
Login to your NREMT User Account

Select Training Officer for My Current Role to ensure you are using your Training Officer dashboard, select the agency, and select view next to Inactive To Active Request under Pending Actions and Requests.
