What to know about The National Registry Mentorship Program
DESCRIPTION
The vision of the National Registry Research Department is to develop and foster EMS-prepared researchers to function with the highest level of scientific integrity to improve and ensure high quality and innovative National Registry products and processes through evidence and collaboration. It is further the mission to contribute to the body of scientific out-of-hospital knowledge to improve the competency, health, safety and wellness of EMS professionals and the patients they serve. In line with this overall mission, the National Registry has developed an 8-week Summer EMS Research Workshop. The primary goal for the attendees of this workshop is to attain a basic understanding of the content specific scope of current EMS research (e.g. resuscitation and airway management), develop a basic understanding of research methodology in EMS, and benefit from close mentor support and network development with nationally recognized, active EMS researchers.
WORKSHOP STRUCTURE:
- 9 week, virtual program
- Workshop sessions will be held one day per week for 2 hours
- Workshops will consist of speaker presentations, small group sessions with an assigned mentor, and 1:1 sessions with your assigned mentor.
DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS:
- Possesses exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to take initiative and exceptionally creative and resourceful.
- Has high ethics and integrity.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong desire to develop one’s self.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s-level experience preferred.
- National EMS Certification (EMT level or above) required.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to perform advanced math skills, adding, subtracting, dividing, etc.
- Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Must be able to accomplish tasks via the electronic environment such as video conferencing and digital collaboration.
- Must be able to effectively use a keyboard.
- Must reside in the United States.
