Training Officers

The Role of a National Registry Training Officer

Training Officers validate the continued competency of Nationally Registered EMS clinicians by approving continuing education records entered by agency affiliates. In some agencies, Training Officers enter course records on behalf of affiliated clinicians. The role of Training Officer is to be treated responsibly, with attentiveness given to all affiliates seeking National Registry recertification.

We've added many new features exclusively for Training Officers including an enhanced Training Officer Dashboard, an enhanced agency roster, the ability to easily copy a class (for example that CPR class offered every month), and the ability to assign National Registry recertification topics for multiple levels in one class!

Training Officers may not approve their own continuing education.

The continuing education of Training Officers must be approved by another Training Officer at their agency. If there is only one Training Officer, it is recommended that the agency's Medical Director add the Training Officer role to their NREMT account in order to approve the continuing education of the Training Officer. The steps to add an additional Training Officer to your agency are listed above under the "HOW TO AFFILIATE AS A TRAINING OFFICER AT AN EXISTING AGENCY" question above.

Step 1.

Login with your username and password.

Step 2.

Under My Roles, click on the Training Officer or Medical Director role.

Step 3.

From your Training Officer or Medical Director dashboard, locate the PENDING ACTIONS & REQUESTS section

Step 4.

Click on the View button located in the Inactive to Active Requests line

Step 5.

On the following screen, read the information in the box at the top.
Note: You cannot approve your own inactive to active request. Another individual with the Training Officer or Medical Director access to the agency must perform the function.

Step 6.

Click the box in the Approve or Deny column of the individual

Step 7.

Click Submit

Note: A Training Officer approves electronic Inactive to Active requests for BLS providers and cannot see the ALS  requests. The Medical Director must approve the Inactive to Active request for ALS providers and cannot see the BLS requests.
