IBSC Credits for Recertification

You work hard to maintain multiple credentials, and the National Registry and IBSC want to make the process easier.

As you work to complete your recertification, you may apply a specified number of credits toward recertification for both the National Registry and IBSC.

Several IBSC activities count toward National Registry recertification:
  • Recent completion of a covered IBSC examination.
    • Up to 30 credit hours may be applied to the Local and/or Individual components.
  • Participation in IBSC Examination Development activities.
    • Credits awarded by the IBSC are recognized on a 1:1 basis and may be applied to the Local and/or Individual Components.
  • IBSC-approved refresher courses may be used to cover content requirements.
The IBSC now recognizes National Registry recertification for credit towards IBSC recertification.
  • Following recertification, the IBSC will allocate 12 hours toward the current IBSC credential.
  • National Registry recertification must occur during the IBSC Certification Period.
  • A maximum of 24 hours may be applied.
The Recertification Credits awarded may be claimed toward the current recertification cycle in which the examination was successfully completed.

Note: Distributive Education limits do not apply to Recertification Credits for Completion of IBSC examinations.
